“La pescadilla que se muerde la cola” (Lit. the hake fish that bites its own tail).
We use this expression to describe a problem that feedbacks upon itself.
“I am trying to get a job as an English teacher. English schools require applicants to have at least two years of experience. But in order to have two years of experience as an English teacher I need to get a job as an English teacher first. Es la pescadilla que se muerde la cola.”
“Last summer I went to Madrid and stayed at a hotel in the suburbs. There are no public restrooms in Madrid. Whenever I was downtown and had to go to the restroom I had to walk into a coffee shop and have a coffee (WC for customers only). By the time I walked away I would need to go to the restroom again.
