Una película: El bar, de Alex de la Iglesia (2017)
Una mañana cualquiera, un grupo de personas desconocidas coinciden en un bar del centro de Madrid. Uno de ellos sale del bar y recibe un tiro en la cabeza. Otra persona intenta ayudarlo y también recibe un disparo de un francotirador. Todos están atrapados en el bar y no saben ni por qué sucede esto ni a quién culpar. La policía no aparece y sus teléfonos no funcionan. Con este punto de partida y un grupo de personajes muy variado –todos arquetipos muy exagerados de la sociedad española actual– la película expone cómo los humanos sacamos lo peor de nosotros mismos ante una situación extrema. El resultado es una tragicomedia con mucho suspense de principio a fin.

One random morning, a group of strangers happen to be in a bar in downtown Madrid. One of them leaves the bar and gets shot in the head. Another person tries to help him and is also shot by a sniper. Everyone is trapped in the bar and they do not know why this is happening or who is to blame. The police does not show up and their phones do not work. With this starting point and a very varied group of characters–all very exaggerated archetypes of current Spanish society–the film shows how humans get the worst out of themselves under an extreme situation. The result is a tragicomedy with much suspense from start to finish.

Un libro: El país bajo mi piel, de Gioconda Belli (2002)
El país bajo mi piel es una obra autobiográfica donde la autora, Gioconda Belli, narra cómo pasó de tener una vida acomodada a convertirse en una guerrillera sandinista, e incluso aprendió a usar ametralladoras. Durante la lectura, descubriremos estas dos mujeres tan opuestas pero que cohabitan: la clásica que se quiere casar y tener hijos, y por otro lado, la mujer que se enfrenta a las convencionalismos y lucha contra la dictadura somocista. Es un relato apasionante de una mujer que rompió las barreras sociales de su época y que participó en una de las mayores revoluciones latinoamericanas del siglo XX.

A book: The Country Under My Skin, by Gioconda Belli (2002)
The Country Under My Skin is an autobiographical work where the author, Gioconda Belli, narrates how she went from having a comfortable life to becoming a Sandinista guerrilla fighter, and even learned how to use machine-guns. During the reading, we will discover these two women who are so opposed but who cohabit: the classic one who wants to marry and have children, and, on the other hand, the woman who faces conventionalisms and fights against the Somoza dictatorship. It is an exciting story of a woman who broke the social barriers of her time and who participated in one of the greatest Latin American revolutions of the twentieth century.
