Terrores Nocturnos es un podcast para amantes de las historias de terror y de crímenes reales. Muchos de los relatos son leyendas urbanas que se trasmiten de boca en boca y de generación en generación hasta convertirse en mitos inmortales. Cada martes Emma Entrena y Silvia Ortiz nos cuentan una nueva historia para no dormir y conocer mejor las leyendas que forman parte de la cultura popular española y latinoamericana.

Este podcast está recomendado para estudiantes intermedios y avanzados. La pronunciación de las locutoras es muy clara y siempre hay nuevo vocabulario que aprender.

Night Terrors is a podcast for true crime and horror stories lovers. Many of the tales are urban legends that are passed on by word of mouth and from generation to generation until they become immortal myths. Every Tuesday Emma Entrena and Silvia Ortiz tell us a new story to not sleep and get to know better the legends that are part of Spanish and Latin American popular culture.

This podcast is recommended for intermediate and advanced students. The pronunciation of the hosts is very clear and there is always new vocabulary to learn.

Un libro: Canciones para el incendio, de Juan Gabriel Vásquez

Canciones para el incendio es un libro de relatos que explora la violencia, un tema recurrente en las obras de Juan Gabriel Vásquez. Los personajes de cada cuento son hombres y mujeres que presencian una agresión de manera directa o indirecta que transformará sus vidas para siempre. Son sucesos del pasado que se resisten al olvido y que determinan los actos de cada uno de los personajes en el presente.

El libro se compone de nueve relatos, algunos muy crudos, que muestran cómo estas personas pueden seguir sus vidas conociendo secretos perturbadores, y cómo coexisten a diario con sentimientos negativos como el odio o la culpa. Cada historia tiene un final que dejará al lector pensativo y asombrado sobre el comportamiento humano.

A book: Songs for the fire, by Juan Gabriel Vásquez

Songs for the fire is a book of short stories that explores violence, a recurring theme in the works of Juan Gabriel Vásquez. The characters in each story are men and women who witness an aggression directly or indirectly that will transform their lives forever. Those are events from the past that resist oblivion and that determine the actions of each of the characters in the present moment.

The book consists of nine stories, some very crude, that show how these people can carry on with their lives knowing disturbing secrets, and how they coexist daily with negative feelings such as hatred or guilt. Each story has an ending that will leave the reader thoughtful and amazed at human behavior.

This book is recommended for intermediate and advanced students.
